Ways to avoid getting sucked into the vortex of fear and stress.
The other day I had one of my Newsletter subscribers email me and ask if I had any positive messages or words of encouragement for the staff of her organization during our current global pandemic situation.
So, yes I do!! Here they are!
You and I sometimes experience situations in which we have very little or no control.
Our current global pandemic situation is a prime example of that.
We need to accept the fact that Life is Difficult and Not Fair!! This way we can never use it as an excuse, and therefore we can move on and ask ourselves what we are going to do about it!
Tip #1
Even though we don’t really have control of what is happening, what we DO have is a CHOICE as to how we respond to it.
Of course it is a potentially fearful situation, but focusing on the fear is unhealthy, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Focusing on the idea that we can CHOOSE to RISE ABOVE that fear produces the exact opposite effect. It becomes a healthy perspective that recharges us, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Choosing the positive perspective doesn’t change the situation, but it does change the impact it could have on you and also those around you. You need to become an example of inspiration and positivity for those around you! It is contagious!
Tip #2
Choosing the perspective that you are a victim of what is happening is a very natural, but also a very detrimental way of reacting to challenging circumstances of any kind. So, the first thing you want to tell yourself is:
IT IS WHAT IT IS!! (You can see my newsletter that defines the power of this statement and how it works by clicking here!)
Basically, when we take a difficult situation and say to ourselves, “IT IS WHAT IT IS!” we are acknowledging to ourselves, logically and emotionally, that we can’t unchange what has happened, and that getting upset or worrying, won’t ever make it unhappen!
So, with that understanding, we can now focus on what we are going to do to make the best of our situation.
“Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair.
It doesn’t get you anywhere, but it gives you something to do.”
Tip #3
Remind yourself that you are bigger and better than any difficulty or challenge that life can ever throw at you—including a global pandemic!
Every morning when you wake up, rather than letting the current situation make you feel stressed out or even worried, you need to make the statement “I’VE GOT THIS!!!”
When you do this, you are saying to yourself and to your sub-conscious mind that no matter what kind of stuff is going on in your life right now, you are not a Victim. You are an Owner—and Owners take responsibility for creating positive outcomes for any kind of challenge that life gives us. I remind you again that you best serve the people around you, colleagues, family members, and friends, when you choose to become a living example of RESILIENCE and how to RISE ABOVE difficult situations of any kind!
Tip #4
Keep and use your sense of humour whenever possible.
Even when you don’t feel like it!
You have heard that laughter is the best medicine. It really is!
It boosts your immune system, reduces stress, gives you a natural boost of energy and triggers a healthy perspective.
“Laugh as often and heartily as you can.
It’s a very inexpensive prescription
and comes with unlimited free refills.”
